Sun, Sand, and Serenity: Best Beaches in Capri Italy

Exploring Capri’s Beaches

Exploring Capri’s beaches is an unforgettable experience, and one standout destination is the Fontelina Beach Club. Here’s a closer look at my visit to this renowned beach spot.

Fontelina Beach Club Experience

Fontelina Beach Club is an extraordinary place where I got to unwind on a sun lounger with a mesmerizing view of the Faraglioni rock formations. This unique setup allowed me to enjoy the scenery before taking a refreshing dip in the Mediterranean Sea (Fontelina Capri).

The dining experience at Fontelina was equally exceptional. I had the chance to relish freshly caught pezzogna under the shade of a charming pergola while sipping on a crisp glass of white wine. It perfectly combined the best of culinary and natural elements, making it a must-visit beach club.

Traveling to Fontelina Beach Club

Getting to Fontelina Beach Club was an adventure in itself. I chose to embark on the scenic footpath starting next to the Tragara viewing point. The path was a 300-meter descent through lush myrtle and broom bushes, ultimately leading me to the tranquil beach club. For the return journey, I opted for the convenient shuttle boat service to Marina Piccola, from where buses or taxis can take you back to the Piazzetta (Fontelina Capri).

History and Tradition of Fontelina

Fontelina Beach Club has a rich history dating back to 1949. It was then that the grandparents of the current owners established a small restaurant in this secluded spot on Capri. This legacy has been carried forward, adding a layer of tradition and timeless charm to the beach club (Fontelina Capri).

Best Beaches in Capri

While in Capri, I had the pleasure of visiting some of the most mesmerizing beaches the island has to offer. Here’s my account of the best beaches in Capri, Italy.

Marina di Mulo

Marina di Mulo is a gem on the southern side of Capri. Less crowded and serene, it’s a perfect escape for those seeking tranquility. Historically, this beach was frequented by stars, adding a touch of glamour. Be mindful that the sun begins to set around 4 PM, so plan your visit accordingly (The Tour Guy).

Spiaggia Marina Grande

Spiaggia Marina Grande is Capri’s largest and most family-friendly beach. With shallow waters, it’s perfect for children. Plus, it’s conveniently located close to the port and is bustling with visitors. There are plenty of refreshment stands to keep you hydrated and energized. You can find more fun activities near the port by checking things to do in Capri Italy.

Lido del Faro di Punta Carena

Another favorite of mine, Lido del Faro di Punta Carena in Anacapri, offers a unique beach experience. It’s the only place in Capri where you can watch the sunset from the water. There are fantastic bars for an evening delight (The Tour Guy). For those interested in more details about Anacapri, you might enjoy reading my Capri Italy travel blog.

Bagni di Tiberio

Considered Capri’s best beach, Bagni di Tiberio is named after the Roman Emperor Tiberius. Family-friendly with a beach club, it’s complete with sunbeds, umbrellas, and a wonderful restaurant serving pasta and seafood. This beach has everything you could ask for.

Capri Beach Structures

Capri’s beach clubs offer a setting unlike any other. You’ll find sunbeds stylishly arranged between limestone rocks, directly on platforms by the sea waves, or perched on the rocks themselves (Capri.com). The photos I took here don’t do it justice! I even had the chance to take a boat to reach my favorite spot on the Mediterranean shores, sipping cocktails while surrounded by the majestic sea of Capri.

Sunset aperitifs, light lunches, and even Michelin-starred dinners were all on the menu. Booking in advance is essential for these exclusive locations, and trust me, it’s worth it.

I had the pleasure of dining at La Fontelina, where the view of the Faraglioni rocks made the meal even more special.
